Här börjar jag med Arthur C. Brooks bok "Social Entrepreneurship: A Modern Approach to Social Venture Creation".

"1. Social entrepreneurship addresses social problems or needs that are unmet by private markets or governments.

- Social entrepreneurship creates innovative solutions to immediate social problems and mobilize the ideas, capacities, resources, and social arrangements required for sustainable social transformations.

- Social entrepreneurs are people who realize where there is an opportunity to satisfy som unmet need that the welfare state will not or cannot meet.

- Social enterprises are private organizations dedicated to solving social problems, serving the disadvantaged, and providing socially important goods that were not, in their judgment, adequately provided by public agencies or private markets.

2. Social entrepreneurship is motivated primarily by social benefit

- Social entrepreneurship is multidimensional construct involving the expression of entrepeneurially virtuous behavior so achieve a social mission.

- Social entrepreneurs are people with new ideas to address major problems who are relentless in the pursuit or their vision... who will not give up until they have spread their ideas as far as they possibly can.

3. Social entrepreneurships generally works with - no against market forces

- Social entrepreneurs "pay increasing attention to market signals without losing sight of their underlying missions, to somehow balance moral imperatives and profit motives - and that balancing act is the heart and soul of the movement.

- Social entrepreneurs "combine innovation, entrepreneurship, and social purpose and seek to be financially sustainable by generating revenue from trading".
